On February 13, Reynolds County was recognized by the Jefferson Barracks POW/MIA Museum and awarded designation as a POW MIA County. This program recognizes municipalities that honor and recognize all who served our country in any branch of the United States military who were captured by enemies of the United States or who are missing in action from any year and from any conflict.

Representative Tony Harbison (MO District 144), on behalf of the Jefferson Barracks POW-MIA Museum, presented the Proclamation to Reynolds County Presiding Commissioner Steve Chitwood and VFW Post 6660 Commander Anthony Mann.

Representative Harbison said "remembering those who have served and sacrificed for this nation is a duty we must always remember.”

Commissioner Steve Chitwood thanked Representative Harbison for making the trip to present this honor, and Reynolds County Clerk Alicia Harper Baker and VFW Post 6660 for their work to receive this designation.  He also recognized the Post for their ongoing efforts to promote awareness of those who put others before themselves, who meet the responsibility of citizenship, some of whom paid the highest price to preserve peace and freedom.

Six signs will be placed around the perimeter of the county signifying its designation as a POW/MIA county.
